This course is designed to train individuals in correct access and rescue procedures whilst working at height in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

Course aim

The course is designed to provide you with the basic skills that will enable you to:
perform work at height in a safe manner; and
become familiar with emergency rescue requirements.

Learning activities

The course involves theory information in a classroom environment and practical exercises on tower structures or at approved training locations. Topics covered include:
Relevant legislation.
Safe systems of work
Methods of fall protection
Care of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Emergency planning
Correct use of PPE
Safe access and egress
Safety whilst at height
Industry specific requirements
Use of rescue equipment
Rescue scenarios

Learning outcomes

The theory elements will allow individuals to show a sound understanding of knowledge relevant to working at height and the practical exercises require individuals to demonstrate a variety of access and rescue techniques.

Maximum for theory is 12. Maximum for practical exercises is 4 participants to 1 Instructor.

Demonstration of practical skills. Role play/scenario work. Written and practical assessment.
