UETTDRRF04 - Perform tower rescue

Description

This Unit covers the Initial and Refresher requirements of safe performance of rescue procedures from a tower structure in the workplace. It specifies the requirements of rescue from a transmission powerline tower structure and how they apply in a transmission work environment. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes, and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of performing work. The non accredited module called Attached Climbing for Tower Work will be included in this Course.

UETTDRRF04 - Perform tower rescue

Unit Prerequisites

HLTAID001 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Training Location

At Client sites and at approved training locations.

Learning activities

Emergency procedure for the skills required for tower rescue of a victim encompassing:
Placement of rescue equipment
Controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others
Maintaining Safe Approach Distances (SAD's) appropriate to tower rescue
Practical demonstration of rescuing a person
Removing victim to safe location / place of safety

Duration

One day for Initial and Half day for Refresher.

Equipment & PPE

Standard PPE including shirt, trousers, boots, hard hat, eye protection, gloves and harness.

Attendee Prerequisites

Fitness to participate and sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course.
For Initial training, attendees should have Working at Heights qualifications
For Refresher, attendees should hold currency in Perform tower rescue, Working at heights and Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

A combination of theory and practical assessments
