Advisory Commitee - Substations and Transmission

Ken provides guidance to Thomson Bridge in the development of strategic initiatives for the transmission and generation sectors. 

In his four decades with TransGrid NSW and its predecessors Ken has held several roles including Senior Asset Monitoring Engineer, Substation Systems Support Engineer and Technical Training management. These roles have included the monitoring and managing of high voltage asset condition, fault investigations, development and implementation of asset replacement and maintenance policies, procedures and work instructions.

 

For five years, Ken was the Technical Training Manager for TransGrid’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO). In this role, Ken integrated TransGrid’s Technical Training Standards with National Competency based standards focusing on the National Training packages for Transmission Lines and Substations staff.

He held a number of external committees and organisations, including:

  • National Training Advisory Group (Substations) 
  • National Safety Rules Committee (Transmission representative) 
  • Electricity Supply Industry Skills Council 
  • NSW Electricity Supply Industry Training Group

  • Certificate IV in Frontline Management, University of New England
  • Bachelor of Vocational Education and Training
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment

  • Post Graduate Certificate in Partial Discharges in Electrical Insulation
